What is RaiseRight?

RaiseRight (previously known as Together We're Better or scrip) is an ongoing fundraiser for St. Joseph school families and PTF. RaiseRight sells gift cards—both online and traditional plastic gift cards—that you can use at various retailers and restaurants rather than using a credit card or cash. Our gift cards are the same as you would find in any store.

How it works:

We carry a wide assortment of gift cards in stock, or you can set up an online account and purchase your RaiseRight gift cards from your home computer or mobile device. Each merchant sets their own discount to sell their cards. RaiseRight buys the cards at the discounted rate and sells the gift cards to you at face value. This difference is how RaiseRight raises its funds.

What happens to the proceeds?

The proceeds—the difference between the face value and the discounted purchase price—is how RaiseRight makes its profit.

  • For any online/app RaiseRight gift card purchase, you get to designate where 80% of the proceeds go (see categories below). The other 20% of the proceeds go to PTF. For example, if you buy a $100 gift card online and its payout value is 10%, $8.00 will go toward your family tuition (or other designated account), and $2.00 will to to the PTF.
  • For any traditional (plastic) cards purchased, proceeds are split 50/50 between your designated option and PTF. For example, if you buy a $100 physical gift card and its payout value is 10%, $5.00 will go toward your family tuition (or other designated account), and $5.00 will go to the PTF.

You can designate your RaiseRight proceeds to go toward the following categories:

  • Family Tuition - You can designate your portion of the proceeds to go toward your family's tuition bill. Or, you can choose for your proceeds to go toward another family's tuition.
  • Tuition Assistance Fund - A fund that helps families in need with their tuition. If you would like to know more about this fund, please contact the principal.
  • Library - Proceeds will go toward our school library.
  • Building Fund - Proceeds will go towards maintenance of the parish buildings
How do I set up my RaiseRight account online or in the app?

Check out this guide from RaiseRight for step-by-step instructions on setting up your account. Our school's enrollment code is: 87ADBL483568. Please also include either the name of at least one of the children whose tuition account you want to credit OR the name of the designated fund you'd like to support, so we know how to credit your payout.

Who can take part in raiseright?

Anyone! This earning opportunity isn't limited to your immediate family. Have grandparents or siblings who want to earn money toward your family's tuition? Ask them to sign up online with our enrollment code info (be sure they include your family's name) or buy physical cards and credit the money to your family.

What vendors are available?

You name it, you can likely find it on RaiseRight, between physical and online cards. They carry tons of major brands—Amazon, Walmart, Starbucks, Home Depot, Lowe's, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Dick's Sporting Goods, Instacart, Texas Roadhouse, Panera. Travel a lot? There are also cards offered by some airlines, hotels, and Amtrak. Browse the full list here. St. Joseph also has deals for physical cards with some of our awesome local businesses: The Coffee Pot, The Bruised Poppy, Village Pizza, The Bullpen, Reifschneider's, McDonald's (you get a better bonus if you buy the physical cards!), Country Mart, Valentine's, and Dairy Queen (when it reopens in Freeburg).

Where can I buy the traditional (plastic) gift cards?

During the school week, you can purchase the cards from the Parish Office, or by sending an order (with payment) in to the School Office. On weekends, the cards are sold after select Sunday masses at St. Joseph and St. Agatha by a volunteer. You can no longer buy the plastic/physical gift cards online unless you select the "ship to home" option (additional shipping charges will apply).

Does raiseright offer other ways to earn besides buying gift cards?

Yes! RaiseRight now offers two additional earning opportunities beyond purchasing gift cards:

  • Shop online: Simply log in to your RaiseRight account, visit the Shop Online tab, and click the link for the vendor you're shopping with. When you buy from their site, you'll earn money back. No gift card is needed, but you can "double dip" on earnings if you use a RaiseRight card on your purchase.
  • Local dining: Link a credit or debit card to your RaiseRight account, and you'll automatically earn cash back when you use your card at participating restaurants.
Can I begin to accrue money toward family tuition before my child (or relative) enrolls?

Yes! Please contact the school office if you are interested in learning more. Note: Money accrued toward a child's tuition will go toward the school's general Tuition Assistance Fund if the child does not enroll.

What happens if my students have all graduated or our family leaves St. Joseph?

You can either designate the money accrued during the pay period to another family to count toward their tuition or designate the money to go toward a different RaiseRight fund; if you don't make a selection, the money will go toward the school's general Tuition Assistance Fund. You will not be given a check for funds accrued during a pay period once you no longer have children in attendance at the school.
